Nets’ Kevin Durant reacts to suspension of NBA amid coronavirus outbreak
Durant wasn’t going to play this season because of his Achilles tear. However, the two-time Finals MVP loves to watch basketball, so he’s going to miss that aspect from his life.
Last season with the
Golden State Warriors, Durant averaged 26.0 points per game during the regular season. As everyone knows by now, the new Nets franchise star got hurt in the second round of the playoffs against the
Houston Rockets, but returned for Game 5 of the NBA Finals versus the
Toronto Raptors.
KD then tore his Achilles tendon, and now he’s on the Nets with
Kyrie Irving and
DeAndre Jordan after signing a four-year deal with Brooklyn.
2020 has been pretty depressing for NBA fans thus far. Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant and former NBA commissioner David Stern passed away, as well as Kobe’s daughter Gianna.
Now, the news that the season is suspended has really made the basketball world even more sad and down.
The Nets are currently 30-34 on the season. If the season is really over, Brooklyn will have finished in seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Nets should be title contenders next season once Durant, Irving and Jordan suit up together alongside Caris LeVert and
Spencer Dinwiddie. We’ll have to see, though, who Brooklyn decides to hire as its new head coach after parting ways with Kenny Atkinson last weekend.
